Re: Scenery NewZealand North (Taupo extended)

Hi, A question to the Kiwi pilots who glide on the noordeiland of New Zealand and read this. What are the active gliding fields of North Island south of Tauranga. (– 37.4790 S 175.7559 E) and which are interesting. You could maybe check the the most active fields on OLC? https://www.onlinecontest.o...

They've already posted a picture with an Antaras, so good odds it will be included:

Grand Prix is supported already in Condor 1, just select a start time window of 0 minutes.

Support for AATs however would be more useful :)

Re: Condor 2.0? honesty please

... often wondered if it would be possible for the ghosts to start the task at the moment I start the task rather than the ghosts appearing/taking off/starting as they did during the time of their actual flight. I can't see how that would work - what about the evolution of the weather? The time-shi...

Re: Unusually poor glide ratio

Thanks for the tip! I do have an nvidia card, so I will try to limit my frame rate and see if it helps.

Re: Condor pilot wins Hahnweide!

And continuing the good form, Jim and his co-pilot won the Uppsala Masters / Swedish Open class nationals this week, by finishing no 1 or 2 all six valid days! Other well known Condor pilot, 8K Ronny Lindell was at the top of Racing class for much of the contest until an unfortunate outlanding on th...

Condor pilot wins Hahnweide!

Condor pilot Jim Acketoft (known as W22, Jim TheSwede in Condor) and co-pilot Wilhelm Wendt won the open class of this year's Hahnweide contest! Big congratulations to them on their first win in an international competition! http://www.wettbewerb.wolf-hirth.de/Wertung/55G_OFFENE_tot.htm https://scon...

Re: speed record start height

If you mean real life rules, then there is no max start height, but you must finish no more than 1000 m below the altitude where you start. You might find this article interesting, about the Schmeltzer's recent 100 km African speed record, and the preparation that went into it: https://docs.google.c...

Re: Unusually poor glide ratio

I was also thinking of CoG. With an aft CoG you have to trim forward when on FG. This will create more lift and drag on the horizontal stabilizer. I'm leaving MX out of the comparison, because he was flying an ASW22 with a different speed polar. These gliders were Nimbus 4 : 8K CoG 0 AXM CoG -3 EDB...

Re: Unusually poor glide ratio

I think it does simulate the effect of g load changes though. maybe if you were doing pullups in lift on fg, then this would give you the difference. I usually do some pullups if flying through thermals on glide, but if anything I was making fewer than normal pullups, simply because there weren't m...

Unusually poor glide ratio

I encountered something strange during last night's SBC race, I was getting significantly worse glide ratio than the other gliders I were flying with. Most notable on the incredibly long final glide. On the final leg I turned final turnpoint together with MX, and being at almost the same height (me ...

For those interested, here is a video from the real Norway. Mountain at 0:25 (and again at 0:40 and 1:38) is the last of the big mountains before TP2 in tonight's task :-) https://i.ytimg.com/vi/tDKBhhC2_tk/mqdefault.jpg This one is mostly from the first half of the second leg: https://i.ytimg.com/v...

I'm not sure about DH.

DH is how much height you currently have compared to the turnpoint. DDH is the height you will have when you reach it, assuming you fly at your current macready speed, and assuming still air.

Re: [SBC2015] Main thread

But in todays task Day 11 in Provence, whilst circling, WELL INSIDE the start sector, I got a message that I'd started the task. Well - I thought, I then crossed startline, gained some more altitue. Flew back into the start sector and the crossed that the startline again - hoping to restart. Which ...
