Re: Condor 2.0? honesty please

A good way to sink a product is to give in on non serious prospects requests (politics). As a software developer, I say firmly that now it is time to finalise the development of Condor 2 as it is. Some prospects play games with the vendor making crazy demands that the latter will ''fulfil'' but that...

Re: Condor 2.0? honesty please

Finalising a software application takes a lot of time. If the beta testers do not find design mistakes, we just need to be patient. Unfortunately, design mistakes are usually found last. I hope that the testers are using memory tools. Memory overruns imply a corruption of the heap and a crash many k...

Re: Condor 2.0? honesty please

The graphics are impressive (some nasty cirrus with bent wings). I hope that the weather model takes into account these cirrus. The big unknown, what will happen to my 200 GB of scenery for V1, some being of incredible quality).

Re: Condor 2.0? honesty please

Personally, I think that we waited long enough to get a new condor. The software is supposed to be in α-β mode and it is not time to add new functionality. The software should be stabilised and tested. In France, we say that the better is the enemy of the good (Le mieux est l'ennemi du bien).

Re: Wishes for future Condor developments

I am surprised that OXO says that streets are not common in real life. First cumulonimbus are generally aligned and big thunderstorms generate flanking lines distant of 20 to 30 km from the main cell. Even benign cumulus generate thermals that are elliptic and heavily flattened. My experience is hav...

Re: Some newbie comments about Condor.

About thermals, I totally agree with OXO. Except if they are generated by a ridge, they are vertical. I think that the rope is too short. A normal rope is supposed to be 70 metres long. Controlling the glider with a longer rope is easier. May be the rope length (and strength) should be adjustable pa...

Re: Some newbie comments about Condor.

I agree with OXO that in absence of wind shear on flat terrain, thermals are vertical: the wind is pushing uniformly the rising column.

Re: Some newbie comments about Condor.

@arneh Let me be more specific. In general, the dew point point *goes down* when you climb. Look at the soundings that I mentioned. For the sake of the reasoning, I shall assume that the dew point is constant with the altitude. You consider the mountain north of the village of Soleilhas that is 1700...

Re: Some newbie comments about Condor.

@ kristoffer You did not respond to some of my objections: The law h = 400 x (T -Td) is a law of physics. Nothing to do with my equipment The trees being too big in the default scenery: nothing to do with my equipment as well. It is a safety hazard. The conservation of mass: it is a law of physics. ...

Re: Some newbie comments about Condor.

In real life, I am able to make unassisted tows starting from the corner of the runway, lift the wing and align the glider with the tow plane. Therefore, I *do* know how to control a glider on the ground at takeoff. I am sorry to say that the rudder is unresponsive on the ground in Condor. The scene...

Some newbie comments about Condor.

I am a real glider pilot with 1400 hours of flight and with all FAI badges except the 5000 metre altitude gain. I am also using SilentWings. The good points of this simulator are the following: 1) The frame rate is better than SilentWings: I maxed out everything and I still get 45 fps. 2) The Landsc...
