Anyone smoothly running condor on the imac??
Looking at a 27" imac with the i7 processors and paralells.
BIG buy factor is whether condor will run on it ;)

regards
Mike

The answer is the same as wether a dog can ride a bicycle:-

"Not well, but you are surprised it can do it at all"

Actually it runs perfectly on the iMac. I don't use parallels but bootcamp, which is already installed when you get the Mac.

It runs beautifully (with better fps) on my Mac Mini under Bootcamp. It is a slight hassle having to shutdown and restart to get into Windows but that's a small price to pay for escaping from Micro$oft forever!!

Is this some kind of Windows not made by Microsoft then?

All I can see is that you are now locked in to a single hardware supplier.

Maybe, but it is a RELIABLE hardware supplier, The omens for Redmond are not good. Apple overtook them recently as the most profitable computer company.

Olympia, hardware has nothing to do with Microsoft. So if you had problems with reliability of your former hardware then you should blame hardware supplier but not software one ;).
There is well known problem of Microsoft comparing to Apple. Microsoft runs on the hardware platforms from innumerable vendors (btw - including Apple!) while Apple's software runs only on their own hardware platform. Of course for them (Apple) it is much easier to ensure smooth operation of the own software on the own hardware. But this is at the expense of the market share.

In 1995 I bought a PC, I have not bought another since just progressively upgraded my system. OK its all housed in different case & nothing inside it comes from that 1995 PC but I have not in that time had to make a major purchase, I have had the freedom to chose what hardware I use from a very competitive marketplace & the old stuff goes on Ebay. If I bought an Apple in 1995 I hate to think how much I would have spent on replacement systems just to keep up to date, when the PC was proposed as a standard (by IBM I think) Apple would have nothing to do with it because it gave the end user the possibility of upgrading/configuring the product to meet their own needs. Need a new battery for your Apple product & you got to send it back to them so they can charge you a lot for it, they want too much control. At least with the PC I only get robbed by MS for the operating system.

Which one runs Condor the best is an unanswered question, that is until someone takes an Intel Mac & compares it to a PC with the same cpu & gfx card. Which one is the most reliable? another hard question to answer, I bet a PC built with good quality components is just as reliable as a Mac, unfortunately many PC's are supplied with 'budget' hardware so they can be sold cheaply, as they say you get what you pay for.
