These shots were made this morning (UTC), just before posting them here:

Dedicated Server and one single Client, computer is running linux and (a little bit modified) wine. Geforce 8800GTX, due to some pixelformat issues only ~40-50FPS.

I'm going to write a little how2 later on, but everything you need was said in this thread before, briefly:
-get d3dxof.dll from a windows-pc, override wine's (this step will be fixed soon) :D
-get some dplay libs from MS, register them (!!!) and play!

Great news! Registering sounds very interesting - what are the needed steps? I guess that has not been discussed before.

Which version of wine did you use?

I used wine 1.1.12: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... &iId=10399

Christian Costa wants to work on d3dxof to get the builtin one working:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16728

Some issues with wine's systray have just been fixed, but did not make it into mainline: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16728
I compiled this into my wine.

The pixelformat-bug is still present, don't know how long this will be. Hopefully the builtin d3dxof will give a little boost to Condor, we'll see,

Well, its already upped here:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... &iId=10399

If you have new test-data please submit there, to hunt all of the bugs!

And after you submitted, just vote for Condor, please ;)

---
If there's any trouble with this how2, please let me know. I bet I will have some time the next days... :P (If you wish, I could add a few images, ...) Just let me know.

---
And don't give up, we know there a lot of bugs, just post them and I'll take a closer look at the bugzilla/internet. (You can file the bugs yourself, of course).

---
Known issues:
->runways flicker sometimes
->sometimes it crashes (mostly when trying to exit flight)
->You need native d3dxof and DirectPlay DLLs[/quote]

Online flying still seems unstable. Tried three times a quick flight from winch on public free flight server running Slovakia map. Twice wine gave segmentation fault after maybe 5mins of flying. Only once I managed to land after a few turns in a nearby ridge. PP1 was installed.

But anyways very promising development. 8)

Could you please post your results to winehq's appdb? If you have Console Output, or will have next time, please attach(pastebin.com) or even file a bug.
I don't play online that much, but >2 hours local flight worked fine, just flew a quick triangle (Okay, mostly played around ;)). On my Computer wine often crashes on "Exit Flight" or "Quit".

Could you test the wave-lesson in flight school? I get an Condor-Blue-Screen a few seconds after "View lesson". Can't test with another linux or an windows pc at the moment.

It could be the anti-piracy protection, if you don't use your own Condor serial number.

Hi everyone trying to run condor on Linux.
I have recently installed ubuntu 8.10 on my computer and installed wine and condor also.
I was just trying to host with dedicated server and had partly success with it.

When I started the server, the server looks okay and running, and I checked if people could connect via "condor-club" "test server".
Condor-club told me it was connectable!!!

but.......... when I try connecting from a different windows computer, condor just hangs.
Has anyone had further success with condor dedicated server running on Linux/Wine???

Hi,

I managed to start Condor with Wine1.1.13/Ubuntu8.10, it works fine but I still have difficulties with my Saitek joystick.

It has been recognised by Condor, but it uses wrong calibration data.
HW seems to be ok with joysticjk calibration on Linux but all of my windows-based sims (Condor, Il-2) use some strange calibration values during game. Altough I'm able to move the control surfaces it's impossilbe to control the aircraft because of wrong cal data.

Has anybody seen a similar problem? I have already checked WineHQ forums and support pages but I have not found the solution. Is it possible to modify Wine settings to use the calibration values from Linux?

Uhmm...
1) What happens if you move your stick to all positions (full left, full right, full up, full down) before starting the flight? This did the job for me.
2) Test your joystick by running this program via WINE: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Sys ... ster.shtml
3) Report back and/or search WINE's bugzilla and/or file a bug for your problem.

Thanks for your advice!
1 - nothing happened.
2- it works on the same way than in the games. Joy uses a stange cal value, but all of the buttons work properly. I found a new thing, POV switch was recognised as X and Y axis.
3 - I will try some other things. If I don't find the solution, I will report it to Wine. I have already checked Wine bugzilla.

Hi,

I get exactly the same problem.
It seems dedicated server doesn't send more informations to Condor client than just the server name.

When i try to host a server without using the dedicated server but using the Condor.exe i get the following messages in Condor: "Starting server" and few seconds later "Error starting server".

In all cases i have no error message in my terminal window.
