After the detailed explanations about the function previous page, the use of this function is obvious.

Vector calculus and Sweep function

Did you realize when you are using the “Sweep” function of Wings 3D, you get a fair illustration of upper vector analysis.

I am speaking about “Gradient”, “Divergence”, and “Curl” (Rotationel).

My two pence

Hi All!

For 3D designer... You can finde lots of plan

Xavier wrote:Hi,

I did'nt imagine that it was difficult to begin with Wings 3D...

So I make a little video.....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Azc1WLDUYyc

Manual Program : Create a hangar in 2’ and 16’’ (exaclty what I do to create this object)

Space bar
Right Click
Cube
Face Mode
Select upper face
Right Click
Move -> Y
Adjust thickness with mouse
Body Mode
Right Click
Scale Axis -> Z -> Tab -> 200
Edge Mode
Space bar
Select 2 opposite edges of the upper face
C (Shortcut for Connect, or Right click -> Connect)
Right Click
Move -> Y
Adjust the slopes of the roof with mouse
Body Mode
Move -> Y -> Tab -> 2
Space bar
Right Click
Cube
Face Mode
Select side face of the cube
Right Click
Move -> Z
Adjust the thickness of the wall with mouse (help to look at with key x, return with key R)
Space bar
Type: Shift+y (to look at the under face of the wall)
Select the under face of the wall
Type R
Right Click
Move -> Y
Adjust the height of the wall with mouse (just under the grid level)
Body Mode
Right Click
Move -> Z
Adjust the position of the wall with mouse (help to look at with key x, return with key R)
Right Click
Duplicate -> Z
Adjust position of the second wall with mouse (help to look at with key x, return with key R)
End

To finish the job:

Select in Body Mode the 3 Objects
Right Click
Combine

Then you get an object that you cane manipulate easily (Scale and rotate, UV mapping etc.). Don’t forget to rename and save this new object etc..

You must understand that it is as lego's bricks, and you can make different kinds of roofs and walls and mix them together to make your own hangar...

Good flight

How to make transparent textures with Wings 3D for Condor: part 1/3

Open Wings 3d (version 1.4.1)

Create a cube by: Right Click -> Cube in the popup menu

Select the Cube, and put it on the ground by: "Tools" -> “Put on the ground”.

Change the name of this object in the Geometry Graph window by:

Right Click on “cube1” -> Click Rename “Cubetrans”

Select the Cube in Body mode
Right Click
And select “.UV Mapping” in the popup menu.

Then in AutoUV Segmenting window right Click and choose “Segment by” in the popup menu -> “Projection”
Right Click again and select “Continue” in the popup menu -> “Projection Normal”

The window AutoUV is open with the unfolded map of the cube.

Right Click in this window and select “Delete” the map in the popup menu.

Right Click in the AutoUV window and choose “Create Texture“ in the popup menu.

The draw option window must be like the picture in using “New Pass” or “Delete Unused Pass”, or change to "None" in the Render square.

How to make transparent textures with Wings 3D for Condor: Part 2/3

Click on the “Options” button in front of the “Background” Render.

And Click on the square box in front of “Color” of the popup window called “Background”

A new window is open “Choose Color”
Set a color and put the Alpha channel A (in the bottom of the window) to 0.5 (half transparency),

Note: A= 0 -> full transparent, A=1 -> full opacity

Click OK (3times).

As it is a background color, you must bind the texture with the material of the Cube by:

Right Click on the Texture “Cubetrans” in the Outliner window and choose “Pick up image” in the popup menu.

Right click on the material “Cubetrans” in the Outliner window and choose “Drop picked object” in the popup menu and choose the “Diffuse” option on the new popup window.

Save your work by: File -> Save

How to make transparent textures with Wings 3D for Condor: Part3/3

Export in 3ds by:

File -> Export -> 3ds (Choose “Targa file” as default texture file type in the option box)
The texture targa file is created directly with the 3ds file.

Convert with “Object Converter“ the 3ds file in Cx file

Now in your folder you must get the 4 following files

And your Cx files must be like that

Now move the Cx and Cx files to the scenery World folder Object and Tetxures
(The scenery where you want to see the Cube in Condor)

Bind the Cx file with the Targa file with something like that as usual:

Open Landscape editor

Open the scenery

Verify that the Cubetrans.cx is present in the objects’ list.

Place, orient, move and scale the object in the scenery with the usual tools

Save the scenery

Have a flight in the scenery to watch your work.

(beware the different options in the "draw options" and in the "3ds options" are permanent)

Good flight!
