AptCndr tool

Postby calu » Sat Feb 06, 2010 9:57 am

at http://rapidshare.com/files/346599868/AptCndr101.zip you find a tool which allows for a given defined airport in CST :

runway creation
'glider' surfaces creation
creation of textured surfaces like aprons
creation of textured lines like central taxiway lines
creation of forests with various trees
eventually, creation of a background texture being the support of all these elements.

AptCndr creates S, O and G.cx files

Please, before installation, read, in the zip, the Important.txt file
Help in French and (bad) English

Hello

1. AptCdr patch 1.0.3 : correct a big mistake with point position calculation : sorry for your headache !
Simply unzip and replace AptCndr.exe

Link : http://rapidshare.com/files/364222917/AptCndr103.zip

2. AptCndrX : a separate version of AptCndr -> the background image is now an UTM image like Condor tiles.
Should be more useful for photo_realistic scenes.

unzip and read Readme.txt

link : http://rapidshare.com/files/364222994/AptCndrX_500.zip

Regards
Christian

Hi,

To finish Patagonia, I am making a new set of airport objects, because the Patagonian Airports are very simple without hangar etc...

In order to make my xxxO.cx files I make a lot of try, with Wings 3D, and it takes a long time to place objects at the right place, and to connect the textures.

In the end the fastest way is to use the ApntCndr Tool of Calu, lost in translation in this topic.

Her are the important commands of this fantastic tool.

AptCndr.jpg

To illustrate the use of this tool, I made a test with San Rafael Airport

Vue de fond.jpg

Starting with a Google Earth image (with the scale to make the correct ratio between pixels and meters) and connecting the project with your scenery, you obtain this above picture.
The green cross is the centre of the runway for Condor and the green line is just coming from the airports data of the scenery.

As you can see in the GE image there is only objects in the SW part of this airport.
And at this time, I put only one object in red (Objects can be scaled ant rotated).

When all is done, in less than 10 minutes (if all your objects are ready) you are ready to make your Airports files :

CreOcx.jpg

By the choice in the picture I want only to make my xxxxO.cx file.

If you press OK, the xxxo.cx file is made in few seconds.

But the most interesting things to learn from this tool, is to read the xxxO.cx file....(see what follow).

Now let see thexxO.cx file
the file is 2.03 Mo instdead of 570 Ko get with standard Airport

Dossier Cx.png

Th header is a standard header of a .X file or a .cx file.

Then comes the material list.

The first good news is that all the texture links are correct
The second is that all used materials are numbered and it is easy to understand from what object they are linked.

DossierCx1.jpg

As you can read I use 32 textures (a glider with 2 different pilots is more than 10 textures)
and all seem good.

Each object is separated and identified by clear comments.

All the transform matrix had been done (rotation of the airport, rotation of the object in the airport, and the bloody coding of Uros and Gregor to be enable to read directly colours meshes etc. , something like x' = a*x + b).

Now let see what happens in Condor :

Shot2626.jpg

Shot2630.jpg

Shot2631.jpg

Colours, shading and smoothing are better in a xxxO.cx than using directly Landscape Editor to put an object in your scenery. White are real white and not something like a yellowed white etc..

There is still issues with transparencies.

If you want to see these objects in a closer way, please have a look to the photos in the French forum (Developpement) and the talking with my friend Capricorne.
