Hi,

I'm trying to follow ASH33M's scenery development tutorials, and I'm at the point where I'm going to have to bite the bullet and (gag, wheezed, puke) purchase a copy of PhotoShop and actually learn how to use it.

Can anyone tell me what is the oldest/least capable (i.e. cheapest to find on eBay) version of PhotoShop that will do a reasonable job on scenery development? I really do not want to pay USD 600 for the latest/greatest version if I don't have to.

TIA,

I used Gimp for both of my sceneries, and it worked great. Gimp is free, so you are unlikely to find anything cheaper than that :) Though it is a little different from photoshop, so photoshop tutorials are unlikely to work step by step, even if there is almost always a way of doing the same thing in Gimp.

Yes, I had thought of using Gimp, but I don't want to add another level of difficulty on top of an already difficult task. I'm willing to pay $100 or so to be able to take advantage of the tutorials and the available scripts ;-).

Yes, I thought of that as well. However, given my very slow rate of advance on my scenery project, I'm pretty sure 30 days wouldn't be enough! ;-).

Hi fpaynter,

Photoshop CS2 is enough for doing the job with JavaScript and script's stuff build for Condor.

Photoshop CS4 is better and more comfortable.

My two pence

Hi Frank,

CS1 is good enough but I don't think it will work on win 7 or vista. Any photoshop that will work on your ops will be good enough. I did the first scenery with a pre CS version it was possibly photoshop 6
