Changes inV2?

Postby GregHart1965 » Sun Sep 18, 2016 1:13 pm

Im wondering what will change wrt. to scenery development for V2 sceneries? Oxo has already said that objects may only have one material assigned to each object. Is there anything else we need to be aware of? I have several scenery projects both planned and in development, obviously I want whatever work Im doing to be relevant.

Are there any other criteria changes we need to be aware of? Both for new sceneries and conversion of old sceneries. Chris please can you comment on this.

There are some changes, but we have made straightforward update of sceneries a priority.

There's nothing for you to do differently before we release CST2 and Condor v2 beta.

Not too hard. I loop cut off from the fuselage then took a flattened cube and molded that to the same shape. So it is a seperate object without link to the fuselage. Also it doesnt have the "phantom" skin that results from the loop cut.

I guess it was the last thing I did and was just tired by then. I will play more using the bend function on the next glider which might be more efficient than scaling and moving individual vertices.

If there is more efficient way let me know. Extract? Need to end up with a totally seperate object or you will get more than one material listed in the cx. Or am I missing something entirely?

The piece you loop cut off is the canopy. Just select the phantom back face and make it a hole. :)

Then create a transparent material and apply it to your canopy.

Thanks had not used 'hole' before. 'Extract' also works well for this if you dont want to 'loop cut' the original

Also, if you use the manifold lab version of wings, it has boolean operations, so you can make an object the shape of the canopy side view, then use it to cut the fuselage ;)

Thanks Chris will check out those tools. Gliders came out very well. Bit of a fiddle UV mapping the mirrored fuselage, had to select faces by hand to get two side views of the fuselage or the text gets mirrored but managed it. I found it a bit easier to not create a hole in the fuselage but use the canopy surfaces as the interior. Just moved the faces down and scaled vertices to fit. This made selecting faces for mapping easier than a hollow shell. The extract function works well to make the canopy after mirroring the fuselage half.

Thanks for the input and help. One of the gliders below. Will put files for an earlier glider up in the freeby objects thread later. All in the spirit of free community and all that. :D

That's a very nice looking model. Good work.

If you have any questions, just ask, but better in the Planes section :)
