Hi,

how can the B-2 fly? Razz I'm not into this plane, but I'm pretty sure you'll find the rudder at the winglets. The elevator is probably "elevon": combined elevator and aileron. May the experts correct me if I'm wrong Wink

Yes, you're completely right. As far as I know it was a damn hell of an effort to get all these steering elements into this tiny little plane...

Well, if they produce it, it might be worth the effort and I am sure I am missing something.

As a non-expert - however - I would say that it doesn't sound the most intuitive way of using forces: elevon are rather close to the axis of rotation (=less leverage =more force =more drag).

More or less the same apply to the rudder in the winglets...

I am curious... what is the advantage of these kind of planes?

They're not producing it. The Academic Flying Groups only build unique non-commercial prototypes as demonstration objects, at least the German ones (which I know about).

The advantage is the low resistance (as the whole tail unit is missing), which results in a very good glide ratio.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, that depends on your point of view), tail units have some sense, e.g. stabilizing your flight. So the great disadvantage of this glider is that it is quite unstable concerning the cross axis, that means you as pilot must be aware of "nodding movements", which makes flying highly difficult and has lead to various damaged undercarriages.

The problems you mentioned are not such relevant, as far as I know.

All in all it is a highly interesting and very performant plane, but not for everyone, not at all...

However, I'd love to fly it in Condor!

I was wondering if anybody started to work on a Pegase?
If not, I might start gathering data on that plane.... 8)

What about MOSQUITO and LS4?
Is there any possibility to see them in PP2?

I did not see the ETA on the list on page 1 and I would like to cast a vote for it.

There is no voting :P

If you want a glider, build it yourself then send it to Condor devs.
