hi, do you mean to have a ranking for every race's day? (sat , sun, thu)
if you don't, how can we have a general ranking only by positions for 3 differents days?

Time until race starts will be related to cloudbase and lift, enough to get from tow to cloudbase until the race starts!
I think it will be between 12 to 20 Minutes!

Actually the scoring is a bit on ice, CC just has the 1000-Points scoring and I think that we'll use it.
If not, I'll take the results of every three races together and the 9 Fastest will get the points like
they're defined in the Grand Prix System. I'll give you more information in the week before the first
race starts.

Regards,
Michael

Question for GP scoring:

Does the pilot has to finish in order to be scored? If he is 2nd in ranking but has outlanded/crashed, does he get 9 points or 0 ?

I'm updating CC for GP scoring, should come before the end of the week.

#1 will get 1 point, plus 1 point for each pilot that finishes (including himself), with a maximum of 10.
Besides that there is a possibility for a bonus point when one reaches a certain tp first.

Hi,
Regarding the time between last aerotow and race start:- Please note that this should also be related to the weather profile. If it is weak weather, then more time is needed to start at max' start, especially as it is a regatta start and you can have only one attempt to fly the task! Otherwise too much is left to chance and a ragged start lowers the thrill of a close race. See ya!
Sticky Digit.

So only the 9 first pilots are scored and the nineth have 2 pts? Or I misunderstood something?
#1= 1+9 points = 10 pts
#2= 1+8
#3= 1+7
#4= 1+6
#5= 1+5
#6= 1+4
#7= 1+3
#8= 1+2
#9= 1+1
#10= 0

or
#1= 1+10, caped to 10, so it's just 0+10
#2= 0+9
#3= 0+8
#4= 0+7
#5= 0+6
#6= 0+5
#7= 0+4
#8= 0+3
#9= 0+2
#10= 0+1

And does GP scoring applies only for regatta races?

Found FAI rules!

At first reading, it seems GP is always regatta, as start time used for scoring is not when the pilot crosses the start line but when the start line is opened...

How do you consider the penalty points in GP scoring?

When I read FAI documentation, scoring is based on time, as the 1000pts scoring does.
So I use the 1000pts scoring (including penalties point for cloud flying, etc) to generate the ranking, then I set the GP score accordingly to the finishers rank.
Then, if the fastest pilot is ranked 2nd because of penalties (and the 2nd fastest is ranked first), he'll have 8 points.

Guys,

The reason the GP races were invented is to make sailplane racing more 'spectator-friendly'. The way the FAI chose to do that is to always have a regatta start, and to make the scoring system easy to figure out and more exciting (more chances for lead changes, etc)

GP Races are always REGATTA starts
GP Race scoring is as follows:

1st = 9 + 1 bonus pt = 10
2nd = 8
3rd = 7
...
9th = 1
10th and rest = 0

Overall score is determined by the sum of day points.

In RL GP races, penalties aren't assessed based on a 1000-point setup - they are assessed based on referee/judge input. In Condor you might want to set a rule that says 100 penalty points = 1 GP point, so if you won the day but had > 100 but < 200 pen points, you get 9 instead of 10, etc.

Just my $0.02 (USD) ;-)

Penalties should be given in seconds.
GP flying is about places, not about speed.
Doesnt matter if you finish 30min or 30 sec faster.
If you aply penalty points, it means your place will be depending on what the slower pilots will do.
If more pilots finish, there will be more speed points, so penalty would become less.
If only 1 finishes with a lot of penalty, this person might get 2nd in 1000p system, while GP system only scores when you finish.
This is also how it is done in RL.
