dont race its just for fun Jeer' what I remember from my flights over Czech...1 km is reality..I didnt see any plane closely except 7-8 fighters and 2 airliners if I dont count their sky marking.. normally I was shocked when I saw plane nearly than 500m because inversion! (all are white  )

Humm ... it's a bit hard I guess for quite a lot of people who are already registreted ...

"CockpitView Only" ... we will discuss about it ... but if the task is "NoPDA" then it is obviously with no external views !
:)

 A few more infos about the race conditions and the rules :

- The briefing (a very light one) will not be sent by mail, but, as in the LowLandsCup, only visible for the registreted pilots on the Condor-Club !

- This light Briefing will be visible only 15 minutes before Condor Servers starts (so 45 min before end of JoinTime, or 1 hour before opening of the startingLine).

- The plane crash management is still in discussion but we decided it to be quite more tough than as usual ... it will probably be something like :
  • 0 points for the race of the crash (as usual) and ranking of the other pilots as usual (FAI rules).
  • No exclusion for next races.
  • A penalty (negative points added) on the global total of points of the crashed pilot. The value of this penalty depends on how many previous crashed have been counted for that pilot : We could do (but still not decided) 1st crash = -50 pts, 2nd = -150, 3rd = -400, 4th = -800, 5th = exclusion of the competition.

Stay tuned ... :)

So if you land out then you need to disconnect immediately if you are on anything other than flat ground? Not a very sociable flight then.

+1

1 km is close to RL, and does prevent a lot of "follow the leader".

4km is for sure too far...

IMHO:
2 km could be nice compromise between telescopic view and realism...

Outside wiev as it is set atm is not realistic but it is nice to take fresh breath from outside of plane from time to time...

IMHO:
Leave it as is, but for some tasks just block outside view (for flatland tasks, those with less mountains, no pda (as u said) etc

120 min for start is too much, as those who can wait 2h - may have much better weather sometimes ;)

IMHO:
45-60 min for start could be enough (also - don't make it same for all tasks - use it depend of task, flexible)

Mid-air collision recovery : allowed with penalty (symbolic)

IMHO:
-5 pts for Q using, sure u can be crashed by someone, but separation is the most important thing... ;)

The briefing (a very light one) for 15 min

imho:
Briefing with weather don't need to be too precise and too accurate (yes! - may be wrong sometimes, as forecasts are) but hope some vital infos will be there (true or little wrong): those which can be easy known if u're on the ground before start, like => cloud coverage, more or less wind dir. (NNW etc), +- cloudbase alt, wind strenght: smthng like 'light wind', etc

Turnpoint helper range : 0 km

imho:
Set it to 1km :D During LLC those helpers was visible and turnopints was 90 degrees. Why not to make this one for tradition reasons? :)

my 2c

I think 120min window is more realistic anyways, keep that one.

We will have to take it the way it's given.
But back to LLC and SBC means more arcade than current comps.
Maybe it's good that there are some differences, maybe we need differences..
Of course I have an opinion, but I know that we will all join the competition.. nomatter what the rules end up

OK ... nice debate !
We hear everything ... PhilippeFP will decide by the end after having listened the small team (around him) recommandations.

Anyway I can myself answer to some proposal :

  • It will definetly be 0Km. for "TurnPoint Helpers Range" for the tasks With PDA and TPs will always be BeerCans of 500m. radius ! Since the LLC in end 2005, the average level of the Condor Pilots in Competition has raised so in the SBC at least the last one, this Visibility range was already 0Km ! So it is no more a problem for almost all the pilots registrated !
  • "TurnPoint Helpers Range" for the tasks WithOut PDA should be 0Km. as well ... but it will be discussed. Anyway, not many tasks WithOut PDA will be proposed by PhilippeFP !
  • For the crash due to a bad outlanding ... we will see what to precise in the rules. But the pilot who is about to go for outlanding has to anticipate the choice of the field where to outland ... just like in real ! In Condor, outlanding on a flat field without trees is not a problem ... in mountain or over forests its not the same as you know, so pilots has to take care of those risks of bad outlandings !
  • Anyway, a .ftr file, with a non ended flight (no landing, no crash) uploaded to be scored will be considered as a crash !

A solution could be to take a screenshot with the sentence " xxx landed" by the way if the outlanded pilot has a bug crash due to unflat terrain after that, he has a proof of his clean landing and he has all the time he needs to say bye to all his still-flying-friends

Hi Dominique

Like Tim said, even remembering LLC and SBC we have to move forward.

My opinion about some points:

1. On visible distance: I also think 4km is too much. You could use 2km as a compromise.
2. Outside view: F2 and F3 should work (for PDA tasks). PIT has a point there.
3. Absolutely not padlock view (F7 and F8)!!
4. Star window time: I think you should keep the 120min window. If the pilot thinks he can have better weather starting later, he should wait... It is part of the tactical strategy. And PIT has also a point here: be flexible
5. Q after midair crash: I'm a pilot who lives 10000km from the server my pings, even on the VERY good server from the french community, are on the 200-300ms range. Absolutely no way to get it better (It has to do with the distance, not with connection quality). So penalising unwanted crashes due to have some lag in planes movement is inappropriate.
6. Crash after landing: In some Condor sceneries, there are fields that look very even from 100-200m (decision height), but when on ground you see it is a little uneven (due to the 90m height grid used), with a little bump right when you are rolling. I think it has to be managed in a crash by crash basis.

Well :) Dunno why there was helpers, but for sure not coz someone could get lost. :) PDA was in C. those times too (but without colour maps).
So missing TP was impossible of course. :) My proposition was kind of joke and for fun only - as those helpers does not matter at all in fact with pda tasks! ;)

Again

7. TP helpers: sure in PDA tasks they should keep invisible. But in no-PDA tasks helpers at 2-3km would NOT help people navigate, but when over TP, help to find the bottom of the pole (necessary to be on screenshot). On first tasks of last Competition you made VERY strange/difficult TP's to turn. I know it is not always easy to fit a task with the scenery TP's, but PLEASE try to use good reference points on ground (I remember a TP over a lake... I lost 500m over the whole lake looking for it, just to know it was on a edge of it. It wasn't recognisable from briefing map...)
