Same here, got Alan's 256 clouds yesterday and I find they look very convincing. Cloudbase is an even more impressive place to be now. :-)

Great work Alan!

Cheers,
Benny

+2 I've recently got back into Condor again after a few years away from gaming in general. I purchased the new clouds yesterday. I did a quick ridge task for testing. They look great, very realistic IMO. I didn't notice any real drop in frame rates either. Or if there are it's very slight 1-3. Even with my aging 2 Ghz P4 & NV 6800 512mb card I still average around 55-65fps. Keep up the great work Alan :)

Does these new clouds eats more or less FPS, in comparison with the original ones??

Frank,

My experience is the same as MosGuy's. The 256 clouds do not - or very slightly - impact frame rates. A drop of a few fps max is (for me) a very acceptable price.

Oh, and the 14 euros of course. :-)

Cheers,
Benny

Frank,

From my hour long test flight. I found the FPS the same or at times a very minor loss likely -1 to -3 max drop. Although I wasn't constantly monitoring fps. Overall I saw nothing that affected the flight experience. It runs/felt the same as with the default clouds. As Benny mentioned for the quality, no one could likely tell missing 1-3 frames at times.

OT; It's good to see many familiar people from the early days of Condor and even from the SotS forums :) . I was last active around 2007 when my old desktop blew its PSU. Seems I have catching up to do scenery wise!.

I certainly do have fond memories of SotS competitions they were certainly fun. As well as many sessions in weak 0.2-0.5 wave.. good times :)

The clouds look good but I think the bases need to be flatter and more uniform.

HI guys,

Bought the clouds yesterday but having trouble installing them.
I follow the wizard but during the installation process I get the following message and installation stops:

"some files could not be created. Please close all applications, reboot Windows and restart this installation"

But to no avail!!
FYI, i first tried out the 64kb version and now it seems that I am unable to uninstall them too.

Please help!

Gert

Hi Gert, time has pass.
Did we resolve the problem? Hope yes
If you have problems with the new files, please tell as more
better if you need my help, contact me directly.
I improve all the installer compatibility and the uninstaller files since 2012.
Hopping works well for all.
Sometimes is necessary to install as administrator.

If you think you was victim of a Trojan:
Delete all old SoaringClouds files download form other web site that are not SoaringClouds.com ( exept: for condor club.eu )
I strongly recommend to download free version of free G-data 2013 and make a scan in the condor folder and all plugins including the scenery add on .

for more questions contact me in my web
Regards Alan
