L-13 Blanik

Postby JBr » Sat Mar 18, 2006 4:05 pm

I have come across some old source files I keep on my disc. It's L-13 Blanik model created for FS2004 AI traffic, but never released. It shouldn't be hard to modify it for Condor (the model including pilots has 2100 faces so far, so it's really low-poly model - but looks good). There are some things on the exterior model that need to be added and corrected and whole virtual cockpit needs to be created.

So my question... Is anybody of you guys working on Blanik? I don't want to waste my time on something that is already being created. If yes, let me know here or in PM (if it is secret :)) and I'll move on to another project in my queue (Z-226MS Trener tow plane).

It seems to look reasonable from the images posted. The textures could do with some reworking - or is that just the jpeg image quality. :?

Authough, personally from my experience the virtual cockpit takes significantly longer to complete than the actual exterior model, therefore it might be worth remodelling for Condor, or just reworking the textures, yet I fear it may take a lot of reworking as using another model I have never found in experience to produce decent results. This could be different though.

Anyway, would be great to have a Blanik in Condor as they seem popular :)

Textures look bad because this is the way gmax shows them, at least on my machine. Their resolution is also half of the resolution of Condor planes - this model was intended for AI traffic, so size mattered. I'll have to retexture whole model because of conversion to 3D Max anyway. I think the model itself is OK, or at least if I can judge from it's appearance in FS2004. Of course I don't know how it would look like in Condor's graphic engine.

Yeah, Blaniks are popular... Show me another glider with production of almost 3 000 pieces ;)

This would be a great addition, many people have, are or would train in this glider.
