I am pleased to announce on behalf of Daniel Velez and Alejandro Isaza that their scenery for Central Colombia is now released. It has been through the Condor Scenery Test, and was cleared earlier today.

The download will be available on SpeedBattle later, and is available now by torrent at http://www.gameupdates.org/details.php?id=507. You need a torrent client for this download. Any will do but I use Azureus. This download may be slow as there are not many seeders yet.

The scenery was 4 months solid work by the authors, and their skill shows clearly. It is certainly up to the standard of Provence and Eastern Alps, and I congratulate them in their achievement. In the middle of the beta testing, they found time to compete in their national Hang-gliding championship, and Daniel finished in first place :D

Well done guys, and now get on with the rest of South America!

Some previews are available on their website at http://soaringflight1.tripod.com/centralcolombia_scenery.htm

Congratulations Alejandro and Daniel!

From what I've seen, this scenery raises the bar yet again, the screenshots I've seen simply look breathtaking!

I've published the same torrent on LLC site should it be required:

great news!

although i don't have too much time atm i hope to be able to do a quick testflight in the next days. The screenshots look very promising, looks like very good work.

By the way: Azureus is runing at avg. 180kb/s, it prooves again that bittorent is one of the best ways to publish condor sceneries.

For those people who do not know what Bittorrent is, or how to use it, or simply haven't bothered looking into it yet, have a look here:
http://forum.condorsoaring.com/viewtopic.php?t=3015

Just try it guys, its not rocket science,
and trying is free (unlike Speedbattle(s bandwitdh). In the unlikely case you don't manage, you can always revert to speedbattle or ask for help here.

First of all thanks guys for yet another amazing scenery. Looks great for what I've seen sofar.

About the use of Bittorent... I'm trained to be a rocket sceintist and not aa computer sceintist but i still got a problem. Wolfgang is reporting download speed of 180 kb/s using Azureus. Well...I'm also using Azureus but at the moment I reach speeds of 30 kb/s max. My connection is good though (normally with good torrents and other P2P programs I can reach 300 kb/s max). I know the speed is depended on the amount of seeds, but are there other methods to imporve the speed in Azureus?

I know....I'm a bit impatient...

The file is not fully seeded yet. Only Daniel and his friends have the entire file and they don't have massive upload capacity. Wolfgang will get "uberspeed" thanks to all of us that have already downloaded parts, until he catches up then he'll be bottlenecked by Daniels upload speed just like the rest of us. Until there are more seeders that is.

So, this is all perfectly normal. What you see is that 11 (or more) people are receiving the file at say, 30Kbs even though Daniel&co only have 30Kbs upload capacity. Thats magic :)

Only people downloading later, or starting later like Wolfgang, will get the really fast speeds.

I expected to see it on SB by now.

There is no reason no to use torrent. It is fast and easy. The download rate is currently over 100kB/second

Get the torrent client Azureus at http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

Oh dear, we have the geeks with us again. I went to the bittorrent site Azareus and what do I find? Two options -- Windows or Windows 9X. No help as to which version to choose. I cannot take the risk and have the disaster which overtook Dom. I'll just wait till it appears on SB I think.

It may not be rocket science, but us golden oldies do need to get help when we go into the 'Help' box.

There's no risk. If you are running Windows XP, then select "Windows".

Windows 9x is for Windows 98 and Windows Me

i donwloaded the scenery in 2 parts, first one yesterday evening - 200MB with avg. 180kb/s, Azureus showed 1 complete and 7 incomplete "mirrors".
Today morning for the other ~120MB, it already showed 17 complete "mirrors". Downloadspead was avg. 200kb/s...

The scenery looks great, especially the high mountain peaks are stuning . I think these are the highest peaks existing in all of the condor sceneries up to now. :)
